Red Cross and City LGU repack rice assistance for city calamity victims

Kidapawan City- The Philippinel Red Cross and the City Social Welfare and Development Office will start distributing food assistance to more than 6000 families affected by the El Niño phenomenon here.

Said assistance consists of 5 kilograms of rice for families affected by the calamity. The packed rice is among the initial assistance to be given by the government to the affected families after the Sangguniang Panlungsod declared the City under the state of calamity due to the longer period of the dry spell.

Prior to the said assistance, City Mayor Rodolfo Gantuangco approved the release of P7.5 Million from the calamity fund in order to help affected families. The City Social Welfare and Development Office has conducted a listing to identify would be beneficiaries.

The City Government is in tandem with the Provincial Government in procuring the rice assistance from the National Food Authority. These will be channeled through the Red Cross and the CSDWO and distributed to the affected communities here and in the entire province of Cotabato .
